Do you remember life before COVID-19? When things were ‘normal’? You know, when public service workers were undervalued, underpaid, under-resourced and taken for granted?
Yes. So do we. And we don’t want to go back to that normal – whenever we finally, truly, emerge from this crisis.
That’s why our No Going Back to Normalcampaign launches today, with advertisements in newspapers and billboards across the UK and the premiere of our exciting new campaign film on social media.
We want as many people as possible to support the campaign by signing our letter to the Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer. We want to remind them that now the clapping has stopped, normal simply isn’t good enough for you, our members, who really stepped up to keep us safe and healthy, and our communities running, during the pandemic.
Sign the letter
We are asking them to use their spending review and the budget this autumn to find the money to rebuild public services and ensure that public services workers get a decent pay rise. After the spending review we will also be following up with politicians in Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales.
Everyone working to deliver public services – whatever their job and whoever they work for – deserves so much more than a return to normal and being undervalued, underpaid, under-resourced and taken for granted.
Watch and share our film now
Please support our campaign by sharing our film with the people you work with, your family and friends and ask them to sign our letter. You can like and share information about the campaign on social media too.
UNISON has always known how important you and the services you provide are. Now the pandemic has shown everyone the vital jobs you do, and the courage and commitment you have shown over the last few months.
We will not let politicians forget that as we start to come out of the COVID crisis, you deserve so much more than a return to a normal that was never good enough in the first place.
